BlackBerry manufacturer Research In Motion (RIM) signed a legally binding document expressing commitment to fulfilling requirements imposed by the government, Communications and Information Technology Minister Tifatul Sembiring said on Monday.
“I have also given them a new Jan. 21 deadline for them to fulfill their promises,” Minister Tifatul said on Monday, before meeting with the House of Representatives' Commission I overseeing information.
He said if the BlackBerry maker failed to deliver on its promises on time, then he vowed to directly bring the matter to court.
He added that a meeting involving his ministry, RIM and representatives from cellular phone service providers was currently underway to discuss detailed technicalities.
